about me

I'm current President & CEO of Rapid7, a security software company. We build NeXpose, a very fast growing vulnerability management solution. We've doubled revenue every year for the last four years running, and will do it again this year.

Through October 2006 I was General Manager of SQL Server Marketing.  I had a lot of fun in my three years on the SQL team, and learned a ton. Until May 2003 I was General Manager of the Austin Products Division for Polycom (Polycom makes those ubiquitous triangular gray speakerphones that you see in conference rooms everywhere, my division builds their ViewStation videoconferencing products.) Prior to Polycom I spent 18 months at a marketing- analytics startup named Paramark, which I started with three other guys. Earlier, I spent almost six years at Microsoft in a range of roles from marketing through product management (which Microsoft calls "program management"), culminating with running program management for Exchange Server.  I started my career at Sun Microsystems, where I was a design engineer building custom ASICs (for the non-techie, these are computer chips).

On a personal note, I love to do just about anything athletic: hiking, biking, skiing, tennis, golf, rollerblading, you name it.  I'm pretty bad at some of them but it doesn't stop me from having fun with them :)  I love to travel - you'll see some pictures on the website from some recent trips.  Some of my favorite trips have been ferrying around the Greek islands and going to Africa a few years ago.
